Senior Smart Living
Senior Smart Living
Senior Smart Living is a living concept for the large group of people over the age of 50 in the mid-range segment. A concept based on the core values connecting, enjoying and developing. Supported by a hospitality formula and smart facilities that stimulate self-organising abilities and interaction to prevent loneliness. Allowing people to longer enjoy a carefree life, while stimulating people to move up the housing ladder by freeing a number of single-family homes.
Neglected target group
Senior Smart Living provides seniors with a comfortable living environment with special emphasis on liveability, sustainability, mobility and future viability. Something, which is sorely needed. The population in the Netherlands is ageing rapidly. In 2020, more than half of the adult population is 50 years or older. Many residences are being built for students, starters and families. But the ageing population in the mid-range segment is being neglected. And it is exactly this group of people that needs suitable homes and living environments. The wealthy seniors often find private solutions and the seniors in the lower segment can turn to the housing associations for help.
Attractive alternative
In addition to what is often thought, seniors do move house if they are being provided with a good alternative. 60% of the people over the age of 55 say they do want to move, but cannot find an appropriate alternative. Surveys show a number of important elements for the ideal living situation of the future. Seniors are looking for an affordable home where they can age in a carefree way. Not too large or too small in terms of residence and living environment. A place where they live together with people of their generation, with space for interaction, fun and development. A place which provides access to geriatric care, but only later on, the moment it is needed.
