Sustainable residential area
The coming years, Blauwhoed will transform the Hoven II district in Capelle aan den IJssel into a contemporary, urban and sustainable residential area. The outdated tenement houses will be replaced by an area with various types of residences, greenery, water, play grounds and meeting places. The residences will attain the zero energy standards by means of a heat pump. Hoven II will be a car-free area. Cars will be parked out of sight.
The lay-out of Harmonie stimulates interaction. We have created a park with various walking routes and cross roads for people to meet. To build the park, we moved the parking spaces to the fringes of the area, eliminating the need for wide roads. The residents use the park to walk to their car. A number of veranda houses is situated along the park. In addition, the park contains a lot of water features to collect and drain rainwater and to give the area a high-quality feel.
Harmonie was developed through a process of co-creation. Buyers could specify their wishes during three different sessions. Next, Blauwhoed sent a newsletter to communicate the decisions taken based on these wishes, which decisions where then assessed during the next co-creation session. This way, both neighbouring and future residents were able to participate in the decision-making process with respect to the lay-out of the public spaces and the types of residences.
We will turn Harmonie into a district with state-of-the-art architecture and residences with high-quality finishings.
